" Malpas Parish Council – Update on Your
Parish Precept (2026–27)
We want to keep
everyone in Malpas fully informed about how your money is being spent and what
it means for our village.
' Why is the precept increasing?
We’ve worked
hard over recent years to keep increases as low as possible. However, like many
households, the Council is now facing rising costs, with essential running
expenses reaching around £25,000 per year.
At the same
time, we remain committed to improving Malpas and investing in things that
really matter to our community.
🌳 What will the money be used for?
This year,
we’re investing in a range of projects to maintain and improve village life:
✨ Christmas
Lights Upgrade (£4,000)
Brighter, expanded festive lighting (including Church Street) to boost village
spirit and support local businesses.
🤝 Community Grants (£10,000)
Supporting local groups and organisations – over £10,000 was awarded last year
alone.
🚶 Highways Improvements (£4,000)
Safer and more accessible roads and pathways.
🎄 Village Events (£2,000)
Helping fund events that bring everyone together, including Christmas
celebrations.
" Malpas History Project (£2,000)
New QR codes around the village to share local history and attract visitors.
🏡 Neighbourhood Plan (£5,000)
Ensuring future development reflects what residents want, protecting the
character of Malpas.
🌼 Village Appearance (£2,400)
Keeping Malpas clean, tidy, and welcoming for everyone.
🧹 New Street Orderly Service (£12,000)
A dedicated service to help keep our village looking its best all year round.
⚰️ Cemetery
Contribution (£5,000)
Supporting the upkeep of Malpas Cemetery, especially following the withdrawal
of funding from Cheshire West and Chester Council.
' Total investment in the village: £46,500
🤝 Our commitment to you
We will always be open about how
your money is spent
We will focus on visible
improvements that benefit residents
We will continue to protect
essential services while enhancing village life
